The Parent Leader Coaching Program

Parent Leader Coaching goes beyond understanding what parent leadership is - it brings the understanding deep “in the bones”, so when you are done coaching it is in your behavior and a sustainable habit. Coaching accelerates your progress towards your goals by deepening your learning and moving your action forward. Coaching uses a powerful set of informal tools:

  • It is a self-discovery tool, which will help you quickly and deeply learn what you have to change.
  • It is a supportive tool, which will give you high levels of support to rapidly make changes - much more support is required than most people realize.
  • It is a sustaining tool, which can shift who you are and who you need to become.
  • It is an accelerating tool, which will accelerate your learning, your action, and your experience.
  • It is a transformational tool, which will help you make big shifts and leaps.

Why Is Coaching So Effective?

Well, because coaching adds a layer of informal and highly tailored learning on top of formal educating techniques. Here are a few effective ways that coaching can help:

·          Adults are more likely to learn more in an informal manner.

·          The needs, objectives, methods, and evaluation of learning are determined to a large extent by the learner and not the educator.

·          There is an exponential impact on learning when the learners are self managed and can find creative ways to share what they have learned.

·          Experience, in general, is a good teacher; but experience that is appropriately selected, planned, and or managed for learning, and that incorporates critical dialogue and reflection is much better.

·          People will begin to act in a desired fashion as they apply what they have absorbed in the formal learning event. But the obsolete behaviors will reinsert their dominance unless a variety of informal learning experiences follow.

·          Perhaps the most significant learning that can take place in adulthood involves changing deeply ingrained assumptions, generalizations or even pictures or images that influence how we understand the world and how we take action.

·          Informal learning interventions must get people to take hard looks at their perspectives and behaviors and begin to incorporate what is most needed.

The Coaching Process Is Very Simple:

  • We become familiarized with your challenges through assessments and dialogue.
  • We will test the reality of the coaching. Is it the right time? Etc.
  • We will co-create a plan to get you where you need to go and when you need to get there.
  • Coaching sessions can be:

ü        Daily, weekly, or monthly structured calls.

ü        Usually, done over the phone or a mixture of visits and phone calls.

ü        Supplemented by fieldwork between sessions to enhance learning.

ü        Supported between sessions by phone or email.

  • We evaluate the coaching regularly.
